What are you eating from the market this week?

posted by SPD Communications on June 22, 2016 Fresh Local Produce

Week five of the market is upon us. Join the vendors and food trucks listed below Thursday at the Statehouse Market. The market is open from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the temporary location in front of the Indiana State Museum.

Here are three things to look for this week:

  1. Don’t know what to eat? It’s always a hard decision. This week, I’d try the Turkey, Bacon, Pesto with Muenster Grilled Cheese or Wasabi-Infused Pretzel Bites from Der Pretzel Wagen. If that’s not your style, Nacho Mama’s features her Vegan Rice Bowl for only $6.
  2. What’s in season? Biltz Greenhouses brought fresh blueberries and the first peaches of the season last week. Expect more this week. Biltz sets up over on the Cultural Trail side.  Check out Wilson Farm too! I really like when our farmers share what they’re bringing so that I can share with you. Here’s what Dave Wilson texted me that he’ll have Thursday: tomatoes, potatoes, sugar peas, cabbage, candy onions, red beets, pickler cucumbers, cherries, garlic, free range eggs and rabbit.
  3. Two food trucks make their first appearance this season tomorrow. Da Blue Lagoon returns with it’s take on Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine. Also Karma Kitchen, a comfort food specialist from Anderson, makes their first trip.

Produce Vendors

VanAntwerp’s Farm Market – Too much produce available from this vendor to list.
Posey and Pumpkin – Flowers, produce and frozen pork.
Biltz Greenhouses
Oberweis Dairy – Sign up for milk delivery.
Wildflower Ridge Honey – Spring Locust Honey while supplies last.

Food Trucks

Serendipity
Tacos Without Borders
Gigi’s Cupcake Truck
Brozinni Pizza – The pizza is so good, but they have salads too! Try the Greek Salad.
Nicey Treat
Der Pretzel Wagen
Karma Kitchen
Da Blue Lagoon
